TOPIC

Why must I unplug the Macintosh Quadra 900 before installing a NuBus card?

DISCUSSION

The Macintosh Quadra 900/950 power supply provides a +5-volt trickle voltage to one pin on the NuBus slot when the computer is connected to AC. One reason for this is to allow remote startup.

If the computer is not unplugged during the installation procedure, the power supply, the logic board, and/or the NuBus card may be damaged.

Consult your Macintosh Quadra 900 or Macintosh Quadra 950 Owner's Manual for the proper expansion card installation procedure.

Note: This caution does not apply to the Macintosh Quadra 700.
