TOPIC

We're showing more reliable speeds and connections on LocalTalk than on
Token Ring. When we access the Chooser under LocalTalk, all zones show up
and all devices respond immediately. After switching to TokenTalk, the
zones don't show up right away, and the devices are slow in responding
when the zones and devices appear. Devices also disappear at times.
None of these problems occur while under Avatars, Lanway 4/16 TokenTalk
card, or LocalTalk. These are all running on the same 4MB ring.

DISCUSSION

It sounds like you've upgraded to TokenTalk 2.4 (NSI 1.2). We're
experiencing problems with the TokenTalk 2.4 drivers with the 4MB cards.
The 4/16MB cards seem to function fine in an environment with well-behaving
    Novell server/routers.

A bug in the Novell 3.11 server prevents communicating with them unless you
install a special NLM on the server. Search for the article titled, "Apple
Internet Router: ATTOKLLC.NLM in Source Routing Token Ring" for
    installation instructions.

    To fix the problems:

    1) Everyone revert to TokenTalk 2.2 using the Ethernet NB 2.5.1 Installer
    or System 7.0.x.

    2) Locate all of the Novell servers and make sure they have the correct NLM
    installed.
