TOPIC

This article provides some general tips for using SCSI devices.

DISCUSSION

    - Disconnect, from your computer, any SCSI devices you don't want to start.

    - Turn on ALL SCSI devices connected to your Macintosh -- even those you're
not using -- to avoid problems.

    - Turn on SCSI devices before you start up your Macintosh.

    - Do not turn off SCSI devices until after you've shut down your Macintosh.

    - Ensure that the SCSI chain is properly terminated. A terminator is
required on the last available port in a SCSI chain (provided the device
    is not internally terminated).

    - Ensure that each SCSI device in the chain has a different ID number.
There are eight SCSI ID numbers available.

    - ID number 0 is assigned to the Macintosh internal hard drive.
    - ID number 7 is assigned to the Macintosh.
    - ID numbers 1-5 are available for the other SCSI devices in the chain.
