This article describes how to set up the Apple menu to provide quick access to programs, folders, and documents.
DISCUSSION For quick access to items that you use frequently, including application programs, folders, documents, and so on, you can put an alias to the item into the Apple menu. Mac OS 8.5 and later Mac OS 8.5 and later includes a folder in the Apple menu named Favorites to which you can easily add frequently-used items. To put an item into the Favorites folder, select the item on the Desktop and choose Add To Favorites from the File menu. System 7.5 and later System 7.5 and later includes an automated script to add an item to the Apple menu. Select the item you want to add to the Apple menu, then choose Add Alias to Apple Menu from the Automated Tasks submenu of the Apple menu. System 7.0 and later To put an item into the Apple menu in System 7.0 or later, select the item and choose Make Alias from the File menu. Now drag this alias into the Apple Menu Items folder in the System Folder. Because items in the Apple menu are sorted alphabetically, you can group items in the Apple menu by adding a unique character, such as a space or asterisk or other punctuation, to the beginning of the filenames.
