Novell, Inc. ------------ LAN WorkPlace for Macintosh provides Apple Macintosh users access to a broad range of hosts, servers, and workgroups on an Ethernet network. The components that make up LAN WorkPlace include: Telnet, which provides VT220, VT100 terminal emulation. FTP, for transferring files between hosts. Novell TCP/IP (or optionally MacTCP), the underlying transport layer. NetStat, a desk accessory for displaying network statistics. Using the familiar Macintosh interface, users can access resources on an industry-standard TCP/IP network, including PCs, VAX minicomputers, IBM mainframes, UNIX workstations, and host-connected peripherals such as printers and plotters. White Pine Software ------------------- White Pine Software Inc. offers a family of TCP/IP-based VT300 terminal- emulation and other applications for Macintosh. The programs let Macintosh computers log on to VAX and UNIX computers to run text and graphics applications designed for DEC and compatible terminals. Software Ventures Corporation ----------------------------- The MicroPhone communications software comes with a comprehensive set of tools for quick and easy TCP/IP access. Targeted to users of TCP/IP-based networks, such as the worldwide Internet. It feature new multisession communications capability, an improved scripting language and editor, new terminal emulation and new transfer protocols. The Wollongong Group Inc. ------------------------- Pathway Access for the Macintosh is a multiplatform graphical front end to TCP/IP services. With PathWay Access, users can transfer files between the Macintosh and any other computer that supports the open standard TCP/IP protocols. PathWay Access includes terminal emulations for DEC VT100, VT220, VT240, VT320, VT330 and VT340 terminals, as well as IBM 3278 Model 2, 3, 4 and 5 mainframe terminals. Intercon -------- TCP Connect II is an integrated application that offers users the tools needed to become true hosts on a TCP/IP network. Using standards-based protocols, TCP/Connect II provides the user with a Macintosh interface to the most commonly used features of heterogeneous TCP/IP computing networks. NFS/Share is a solution for Macintosh users wanting to take advantage of distributed file sharing within a multivendor environment. NetShark is a next generation Internet application. NetShark includes a World-Wide Web browser and Email client. Both are designed to maximize function and performance letting you switch back and forth between web and mail. InterServer Publisher is software that supports Web, FTP, and Gopher server functionality. The Web server includes support for forms and multiple connections. The FTP server supports different levels of access, from secure to anonymous. The Gopher server is background-friendly and self-configuring to let users quickly make information available on the Internet. InterPrint will let Macintosh computers choose a UNIX PostScript printer on a TCP/IP network from the Chooser. InterPPP II Lite is a standards-based solution that implements PPP according to published Requests for Comment (RFCs). Developed by the IETF, in cooperation with network vendors, PPP is a documented standard for connecting workstations to networks that is being deployed by many router and terminal server vendors as the standard solution for dial-in network access. Planet X is an X Window System client for Macintosh computers. Any X Window System server, such as a Sun, Digital, HP, IBM workstation, X terminal, or even another Macintosh running an X server such as MacX can utilize the power of Planet X. The X server display shows exactly what is seen on the Macintosh screen, and the X server keyboard and mouse can be used to control the remote Macintosh. UUCP/Connect provides a complete environment for reading electronic mail and USENET news via the UUCP protocol. Using Apple's Communications Toolbox, UUCP/Connect can be used over straight serial links, modems, AppleTalk, TCP/IP, ISDN, X.25, and more. It works with a number of common UUCP services, such as the service provided by Performance Systems International. WatchTower is designed with network managers in mind, using the power and availability of the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) standard combined with the Apple Macintosh to gain control over your network. Advanced Software Concepts -------------------------- TCPack provides all the necessary basic TCP/IP connectivity options. Advanced Software Concepts' products are Comm ToolBox tools which allow IBM terminal sessions and general telnet TCP/IP connectivity via a standard terminal emulator. There's no need to learn a new program. You just drop the tools in the System Folder, and start up a Comm ToolBox compatible terminal program. TCPack supports telnet and FTP (client and server) protocols. Synergy Software ---------------- The VersaTerm family of applications (VersaTerm, VersaTerm-PRO, VersaTilities) provide high quality terminal emulations, TCP/IP network connections (including SLIP), and a graphical interface for exchanging information over the Internet. Xinet ----- Xinet develops and markets Unix/Macintosh connectivity products. They specialize in client/server solutions that let Macintosh and Unix systems work together efficiently and reliably. Xinet products include: FullPress: integrated OPI (Open Pre-press Interface) server software for prepress production. K-AShare: AppleShare file server software for Unix. K-Spool: A bi-directional print spooler for Unis and Macintosh. K-FS: AppleShare client software for Unix. MediaShare: High speed file sharing solution for prepress and media production. AGE Logic, Formerly Pacer Software ---------------------------------- AGE Logic is a leader in desktop connectivity software. Specializing in interoperability and connectivity software, AGE has developed a wide range of products that facilitate desktop to enterprise connectivity. It integrates a high-performance file server, a print server handling PostScript protocols and an AppleTalk Internet router. It also provides terminal services and access to Unix mail. Helios OPI is a high-performance desktop publishing document server and printing enhancement system based on Unix computers that have been equipped with EtherShare. Alisa Systems ------------- AlisaMail is an easy-to-use enterprise electronic mail and corporate directory service integration system designed for demanding messaging environments that require support for standard and proprietary mail protocols. Based on Sybase relational database, its distributed architecture and comprehensive directory service make electronic message integration more reliable and simple to administer in a large E-mail environment. AlisaMail fully integrates a broad base of PC, Macintosh, Unix and DEC VAX E-mail systems. By allowing various hardware and software platforms to seamlessly and transparently exchange electronic messages, fully editable documents and binary files, AlisaMail integrates corporate E-mail with Microsoft Mail, Lotus cc:Mail, CE Software QuickMail, WordPerfect Office, X.400, SMTP and Digital's VMSmail, ALL-In-1 and Message Router (with access to PROFS, SNADS, PMDF, and so on) mail systems. Rasmussen Software, Inc. ------------------------ MacQT (Macintosh Quick Terminal) provides solid terminal emulation for any Macintosh. It emulates ADDS Viewpoint extended, with line-drawing set, attributes and function keys (emulated on minimal keyboards). It supports sizeable text, 80/132-column display, ASCII file transfer, pass-through print and pass-through PostScript. Host software is provided where necessary for file transfer. Public Domain Software ---------------------- There are several non-commercial (public domain) products that provide telnet and FTP services for the Macintosh. One of the most popular is NCSA Telnet. NCSA Telnet offers telnet and FTP (client and server) services to the Macintosh. NCSA Telnet supports MacTCP. University of Illinois Internet: softdev@ncsa.uiuc.edu For people interested in doing TCP/IP programming, a MacTCP based socket library is available from the University of Toronto. This is a non-supported public domain product. University of Toronto Internet: milligan@utcs.utronto.ca The Columbia AppleTalk Package (CAP) is a public domain software package that offers an AppleShare-compatible file server that can make a UNIX directory available to Macintosh users via the AppleShare client software. It also offers bi-directional print services to both the UNIX users and the Macintosh users. For spooling Macintosh files, CAP uses a UNIX program that behaves as a virtual LaserWriter, allowing any device that can print to a LaserWriter to use the spooler.
