TOPIC

When Mac OS X Public Beta is installed on a UNIX File System (UFS) volume, the startup volume is named "/."

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

The computer's startup volume is named "/" instead of "Mac OS X" when Mac OS X Public Beta is installed on a UFS volume.

    Products affected

    • Mac OS X Public Beta
    Solution

This is the expected behavior when installing onto a UFS volume and does not affect the operation of Mac OS X Public Beta. When referring to a file by a pathname, substitute "/" in place of the leading "/Mac OS X/."
