    The computer's AppleTalk name may not be visible on a network when using File Sharing with Mac OS X Public Beta.


DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    Client computers using the Chooser or Connect to Server command do not see the AppleTalk name of a computer that has File Sharing turned on.

    Solution

    To connect to a computer using the Chooser:
      1. Open the Chooser
      2. Click AppleShare.
      3. Click Server IP Address.
      4. Type the IP address or URL of the Mac OS X Public Beta computer to which you wish to connect.
      5. Click Connect.

    To connect to a computer using the Connect to Server command in the Mac OS X Public Beta:
      1. Choose Connect to Server from the Go menu.
      2. Type the IP address or URL of the Mac OS X Public Beta computer to which you wish to connect in the URL field.
      3. Click Connect.

    Note: The IP address of a Mac OS X Public Beta computer may be found in the Network pane of the System Preferences application.
