    You must start up your computer from Mac OS 9 to watch a movie on a DVD-Video disc.


DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    DVD-Video discs do not play when the computer is started up in Mac OS X Public Beta. Opening Apple DVD Player in the Classic environment results in an alert box with this error message:
      The application "Apple DVD Player" has unexpectedly quit.

    Solution

    Follow these steps to watch a movie on a DVD-Video disc:
      1. Open the System Preferences application.
      2. Click Startup Disk.
      3. Click the System Folder icon for Classic Mac OS.
      4. Restart the computer.

    Apple expects to fix this issue in a future software version.
