    Several of Apple's portable computers use the F1 and F2 keys to adjust the brightness of the built-in display. However, the buttons do not work when using Mac OS X Public Beta.


DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    The brightness adjustment keys do not adjust the brightness of the built-in display when using Mac OS X Public Beta.

    Solution

    Apple plans to resolve this issue in a future version of Mac OS X.

    In the meantime, it is possible to adjust the brightness while running Mac OS 9. The setting is retained while running Mac OS X Public Beta.
