    PCMCIA cards, also known as PC cards, do not work on PowerBook computers started up in Mac OS X Public Beta.

    PC cards inserted in a PowerBook computer do not function.

    Solution

    When you need to use a PC card, start up the computer from a Mac OS 9 System Folder or volume.

    Mac OS X Public Beta lacks software support for PC cards. Apple plans to address this issue in a future version of Mac OS X.
