    The application PPP Connect, used in Mac OS X Public Beta to connect to the Internet through a phone modem, drops (disconnects) after about an hour.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    PPP Connect indicates that the connection to the Internet is still active, but all signs of actual connectivity are lost.

    Products affected
    • Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) with dual-processor
    • Mac OS X Public Beta

    Solution

    After about an hour of being connected to the Internet:
      1. Open the PPP Connect application.
      2. Click Disconnect.
      3. Click Connect.

    This issue may be addressed in a future release of Mac OS X.
