    Some applications that require special hardware access, such as the AppleCD Audio Player and the Apple DVD Player, do not work correctly in Classic.


DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    Applications that require direct hardware access may not work in the Classic environment. An alert box may appear when you open the application that suggest you need to add extensions to the System Folder.

    Solution

    Some applications that require special hardware access do not work in the Classic environment of Mac OS X Public Beta.

    In order to perform the desired function, the appropriate Mac OS X application must be used. For example, use Music Player to listen to an audio CD.

    Mac OS X Public Beta does not yet have a DVD player application. To watch a movie from a DVD-Video disc, restart the computer from Mac OS 9 and use the Apple DVD Player application. See:
