TOPIC

In some cases, a dialog box asking "Where is XYZ?" (where any unknown application name may be substituted for XYZ) can only be dismissed after canceling three to four times.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

AppleScript displays a dialog box asking you to locate an application. If the application cannot be found and you click Cancel, the dialog box returns.

    Products affected
    • Mac OS 9.1

    Solution

Click Cancel three to four times. The dialog box dismisses after multiple cancellation attempts.

This occurs when a compiled AppleScript is opened with a reference to an unknown application.

Apple may address this issue in a future software release.
