DISCUSSION According to the VT320 Tool section in the MacTerminal 3.0 User's Guide, there are three ways to emulate the functions provided by the function keys on the VT320 keyboard: 1) Regardless of the keyboard you have, the Keys menu provides selections that function identically to VT320 function keys. 2) In addition, the Extended ADB keyboard contains Function keys that you can use to emulate the VT320 function keys. However, the Extended ADB keyboard contains Function keys F1 through F15, while the VT320 keyboard contains Function keys F6 through F20. The discrepancy is resolved by mapping Fx on the Extended ADB keyboard to F(x+5) on the VT320. For example, to generate a VT320 F6, use F1 on the Extended ADB keyboard. 3) You can also generate Function keys on the Macintosh keyboards by using the Keypad keys in combination with the Option key, as shown in this table: Macintosh keypad plus OPTION equals Function keys ---------------- ------------- Clear F5 = F6 / F7 * F8 7 F9 8 F10 9 F11 - F12 4 F13 5 F14 6 F15 + F16 1 F17 2 F18 3 F19 . F20 For user-defined VT320 function keys, hold down the Shift key and the Option key, while pressing the appropriate keypad key. The question is whether these F-keys you want to use are VT320 F-keys or LK201 F-keys. When you use a real DEC VT320 terminal with the application, you press F10 to exit, but using MacTerminal 3.0 with the VT320 Tool, you should press F5 on the extended keyboard (offset of 5). You can also use the Macintosh keypad 8 and the Option key to generate F10. If this still doesn't work for your LK201 keyboard, you may want to check into using a macro program such as QuicKeys to map the function keys. This is much easier than trying to map the resources in the VT320 Tool. |
