TOPIC

Mac OS X client computers provide a hardware address, and not a computer name, when viewed in the DHCP clients window of Server Admin.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

In the DHCP clients window of Server Admin, some computers in the Computer Name column are listed by name and others by hardware (MAC) address.

    Products affected
    • Mac OS X Server 10.0.x
    • Mac OS X 10.0.x

    Solution

You may identify a Mac OS X computer by its hardware (MAC) address. This is the expected behavior for Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server.
