TOPIC

Can I operate my Macintosh IIvx in a vertical position?

DISCUSSION

The Macintosh IIvx (and the similar Performa 600 and Centris 650) were
designed, built, and tested to perform reliably in the horizontal position.
When operated in the horizontal position, these computers meet or exceed Apple
Computer's regulatory compliance specifications. Using these computers in any
other orientation may damage sensitive internal components and isn't
    recommended.

Further, when you place one of these computers on a work surface, be sure the L
on the left side of the system remains unobstructed.

However, should you require a vertical position for your system, you must
use an appropriate accessory stand to ensure regulatory compliance and
continued reliability. An appropriate stand holds the computer safely
without disrupting the air flow that keeps the computer's components cool.
(The Apple CD 300i functions properly on its side.)
