TOPIC

This article describes the Macintosh IIvx sound capabilities.

DISCUSSION

All sound processing in the Macintosh IIvx is accomplished by the VASP
gate array. The sound system includes one built-in speaker and an
    external stereo headphone jack.

CD audio tracks are played back through the external speaker/earphone
jack in stereo. Macintosh sounds are played in mono through both
    channels.

If no headphone is attached, CD audio plays through the internal speaker
in mono. System beeps and CD audio are mixed together so both can be
heard through either the headphone or internal speaker.

Sound input is accomplished through a stereo mini-phone jack.
