DISCUSSION ColorSync Software and Output Devices The Apple Color OneScanner supports ColorSync, Apple's unique color matching software, providing accurate colors and tones. When used with the Macintosh Color Display and the Apple Color Printer, the Color OneScanner is part of a total color solution that assures consistent color from scanning to display and printing so that the original image looks like the printed document. Optical Character Recognition Software The Color OneScanner works well with third-party OCR software. OmniPage Professional's AnyPage technology dramatically enhances recognition for a wide variety of documents. Earlier Apple Scanners Ofoto 2.0 and the Scanner driver 3.0 are backward compatible with previous Apple scanners. Ofoto 2.0 works with both the Apple Scanner (4-bit) and OneScanner (8-bit). Scanner driver 3.0 is compatible with previous versions.
* Note: The Scanner 3.0 extension WILL work with the Apple Scanner and Apple OneScanner IF System 7 is being used. If System 6 is being used then you should use Scanner 2.0 with the Apple Scanner or Apple OneScanner. AppleScan 1.0.2 and 32-Bit Addressing The AppleScan application is not a 32-bit clean application. In order to use the Apple Scanner with any Macintosh Quadra/Centris AV or Power Macintosh Computer, you must upgrade to Ofoto 2.0.x, or use another compatible scanning application. Note: Light Source (the developer of Ofoto) no longer offers support or software upgrades, and has no plans to revise Ofoto to be compatible with current versions of the Mac OS. |
