How does Apple distribute ColorSync, and who can obtain licensing?
DISCUSSION Apple will license ColorSync to third parties for incorporation in their products. Apple will also ship ColorSync software and the appropriate profiles with Apple color systems and peripherals. The first Apple products with ColorSync included are the Color OneScanner and the Apple Color Printer. Apple will license ColorSync to competitive peripheral developers. Because Apple believes that color matching needs to provide users with color WYSIWYG, Apple licenses ColorSync to anyone who wishes to use it, including competing companies. We feel it's critical to have one standard color matching approach on the Macintosh, no matter who provides the peripheral device. |
