TOPIC

What are the differences between the Macintosh Quadra 800 and the
    Macintosh Quadra 950?

DISCUSSION

The Quadra 800 runs more than 30 percent faster than a Quadra 700, which it
replaces -- and at a more affordable price. (The Quadra 950 remains on the
    price list.)

Although the Quadra 800 and Quadra 950 have the same 68040 processor, both
operating at 33 megahertz, the 950 has greater expansion options than the
Quadra 800. For example, you can expand the DRAM in the 950 to 256MB, compared
to 136MB in the Quadra 800. The Quadra 950 has two additional NuBus expansion
    slots as well.

The Quadra 800 may run 5 to 10 percent faster than a Quadra 950 in certain
applications, largely due to memory and video management improvements via
custom integrated circuits (ICs). However, because it has greater memory
and expansion capabilities, a fully configured Quadra 950 may outperform
the Quadra 800 in certain applications.
