TOPIC

I have a StyleWriter II and a Macintosh Centris 610. When I share the StyleWriter (using the GrayShare driver), I sometimes get a dialog box that says I do not have enough memory to share the printer. This problem always occurs if I shut down the Centris 610 after the printer is shared.

Also, after I shut down, the "Share this printer" checkbox becomes unchecked.

DISCUSSION

This is a known bug in the PrinterShare v1.0 extension, and has been fixed in PrinterShare v1.0.1 and later. It occurs most frequently on 68040 systems (including the Macintosh Centris 610 & 650, and Quadra 800) because of the use of the CPU cache. However, this can also occur on other models given the right circumstances.

We suggest that any customer using the print sharing option on a StyleWriter II, upgrade the PrinterShare software to version 1.0.1 or later. In addition to upgrading the PrinterShare file, you should throw away the "Shared Prefs" file located inside the System Folder:

    System Folder
    Preferences
    Printing Preferences
