TOPIC

How can I move the cursor on my PowerBook without using the trackpad? I have Easy Access, but the Mouse Keys function which requires the keyboard sequence "Shift+Command+Clear" does not work on the PowerBook since there is no Clear key.

The Easy Access control panel does not work on Macintosh computers with standard keyboards. Being able to use this
function without an extended keyboard plugged in would be very helpful when the trackpad is failing or disabled.

DISCUSSION

Since PowerBooks do not have a numeric keypad you need to use an extension called Mouse Keys. This will allow the PowerBook and computers with standard keyboards to access the functionality of Easy Access. This is unsupported free software from Apple. It is available at Apple's Disability Connections Site on the World Wide Web < http://www2.apple.com/disability/easyaccess.html >.

See TIL article Macintosh PowerBook: Mouse Keys Extension, /techinfo.nsf/artnum/n30279 , for the Read Me that accompanies this software, for instructions on the installation and use of this software.
