DISCUSSION There is a feature in System 7.x for the Performa and for System 7.5 called layer hiding. This feature hides the background windows, showing only the active window. System 7.5 ========== Under System 7.5, layer hiding is part of the General Controls control panel. To prevent layer hiding: Step 1: Open the General Controls control panel. Step 2: Click the Show Desktop In Background box. Step 3: Close the Generals control panel. After you close the General Controls control panel, you need to restart your computer Older Versions of System 7.xP ============================= System 7.01P, 7.1P, and 7.1P2 ----------------------------- Under these versions of the Performa system software, the layer hiding feature is built into the Launcher application. To prevent layer hiding, remove the Launcher control panel from your Control Panels folder. If you place the Launcher control panel in another location, you can still use it, but the layer hiding feature is disabled. After you move the Launcher control panel, you need to restart your computer. System 7.1P3, 7.1P5, and 7.1P6 ------------------------------ Under these versions of the Performs system software, the layer hiding feature is built into the Performa control panel. To prevent layer hiding: Step 1: Open the Performa control panel. Step 2: Click the Finder Hiding button. Step 3: Cose the Performa control panel. After you close the Performa control panel, you need to restart your computer.
