DISCUSSION

Question: Can I use the power adapter that came with my PowerBook with my Portable StyleWriter?

Answer: No. The power adapters for PowerBooks and Duo Docks are not compatible with the Portable StyleWriter power adapter. While the hardware plugs are the same, please heed the warning on the Portable StyleWriter power adapter and do not mix power adapters, using the wrong power adapter can damage the power adapter, the PowerBook and/or your Portable StyleWriter.

Question: What ink-cartridge does The Portable StyleWriter use?

Answer: The Portable StyleWriter uses the same ink-jet cartridge as the Apple StyleWriter and Apple StyleWriter II (Apple part number M8041G/B).

Question: Can The Portable StyleWriter use ink-cartridges and batteries designed for the Canon BJ-10ex (or BJ-10sx)?

    Answer: Yes.

Question: Is The Portable StyleWriter compatible with Windows?

Answer: No. Apple has designed The Portable StyleWriter for use with Macintosh computers.

Question: Why does The Portable StyleWriter have a parallel port and not the Apple-standard serial port?

Answer: As we designed The Portable StyleWriter, our goal was to provide "Plug and Play" simplicity for our customers. We feel that The Portable StyleWriter's interface ports and cables meet our goal of ease of use.

Question: Which printer is recommended, the StyleWriter II or The Portable StyleWriter?

Answer: It depends on how a person will be using the printer. If the printer will remain on your desk, the StyleWriter is a superior solution (less expensive, faster, and with GrayShare). If your need is for a compact, transportable printer that operates with battery power, the Portable StyleWriter will meet your needs.

Question: Will Apple roll GrayShare into the Portable StyleWriter in the future?

Answer: Future revisions of the Portable StyleWriter are being evaluated, and GrayShare is certainly being considered.

Question: What is the cost per page of the Portable StyleWriter?

Answer: The cost of ink and paper should average out to about $0.05 per page.

Question: How fast is the Portable StyleWriter?

Answer: The Portable StyleWriter prints about one page per minute on 68030 equipped Macintosh PowerBooks.
