I'm using a StyleWriter II and an LC III. When printing GIFs, PICTs,
TIFFs, and other graphics files, I get banding on any grayscale
    graphic.

Black and white graphics work fine, and the photos are coming out
fine, (the grayscale part) but there will be a line of photo, then a
white line, then a line of photo, and so on.

DISCUSSION

We're not quite sure what you're seeing. We were not able to
duplicate the problem with alternating lines of completely white, and
then lines of photo. We printed various grayscale images in Adobe
PhotoShop and got the "normal" banding. It seems that this is
probably what the customer is seeing since you stated that black and
white images print fine. If there was an actual problem, you would see
white lines across a black image in black and white mode.

There will be a certain amount of "banding" with grayscale images as
this is typical with inexpensive printers. Banding is a result of the
physical properties of sprayed ink, as in the StyleWriter II. There
should NOT, however, be any completely white lines (pixel size) all
the way across an image. If this is the case, you might try selecting
the option, "Clean Ink Cartridge before printing" or try a different
cartridge altogether. If a new cartridge is used make sure you purge
the cartridge. For more information on purging the cartridge
reference article "StyleWriter II: Cleaning and Purging the Ink
    Cartridge."
