*╩I have a Serial NB Card and I've have gotten the impression that the
resistor packs (R-paks) are specific to the cable being used. The
information that I have states or implies that there is only one type of
R-pak and that their use is only if you have and want to use more than
two of the connectors on the Hydra, RS-232-C cable.

    * The numbers on the R-pak had v.35 and 8950 on the chips with the Apple
logo on it. How can I get the R-pak for the RS-232-C. Is there such a
    thing?

DISCUSSION

The Apple Serial NB Card manual in Chapter 3 (p 23 and 24), spells out what
resistor pack configurations and cabling you should use for the Apple
Serial NB Card. Remember there are two types of cables, the Hydra cable
with four RS-232-C connectors, and the V.35 cable with one RS-232-C
    connector and one V.35 connector.

The R-paks that ship on the card are removed ONLY when you are using ports
1A or 1B on the Hydra cable. There are no specialized RS-232-C, R-paks.
If you use ports 2A or 2B on the Hydra cable leave the R-paks in place.
You also leave the R-paks in place when using either connector of the V.35
    cable.

Here is some details on configuring the serial card R-paks for products
that use the Apple Serial NB card, such as MacX25 and SNA*ps:

    MacX25
You must configure MacX25 to use port 1A of either the Hydra cable or
V.35 cable. When using the Hydra cable, remove the R-paks.

    SNA*ps
Any of the Hydra cable ports or V.35 cable ports may be used. The same
R-pak "rule" applies, if ports 1A and/or 1B of the Hydra cable are used
    the R-paks must be removed.
