TOPIC

This article describes how to clean the ink cartridge on the Portable
    StyleWriter.

DISCUSSION

To clean the ink cartridge, follow these steps:

    Step 1
    ------
Make sure the printer is turned off and has a sheet of paper loaded.

    Step 2
    ------
Hold down the FWD ADJ and REV ADJ buttons, and press the Power button. The printer beeps.

    Step 3
    ------
Release the Power button, keeping the FWD ADJ and REV ADJ buttons pressed. The printer beeps again.

    Step 4
    ------
Immediately release the FWD ADJ and REV ADJ buttons and press the LF/FF button.

The "On Line" light blinks as long as the cleaning process goes on. The cleaning process stops automatically and a test pattern is printed. See the User's Guide for a diagram on how the test pattern should appear.

The lines on the test pattern should all be connected, with no breaks. If any of the lines are missing, repeat the cleaning process.

    Note:
To clean the ink cartridge without printing the test pattern, do not press the LF/FF button in step 4.

IMPORTANT: Cleaning the ink cartridge consumes a small amount of ink. If you repeat the procedure unnecessarily, you reduce the life of the cartridge.
