    This article gives the technical specifications for the Macintosh
    Centris 660AV and Quadra 660AV computer.


DISCUSSION


    Microprocessor
    --------------
    * Motorola 68040, 32-bit architecture, 25 Mhz clock speed
    * Integrated floating-point unit (FPU)
    * Paged Memory Management Unit (PMMU)
    * 8 KB Cache

    Digital signal processor (DSP)
    ------------------------------
    * AT&T 3210 running at 55 Mhz
    * Used for sound, speech recognition, telecommunications, and other real-time
    processing tasks.

    Memory
    ------
    * 8 MB of RAM standard: 4 MB of RAM soldered onto the logic board, and one
    4 MB SIMM installed in one of memory expansion slots.
    * Two memory expansion slots for 70ns 72-pin SIMMs. Supported SIMM sizes are
    4, 8, 16, and 32 MB.
    * Expandable to 68 MB of RAM by using 32 MB SIMMs in both SIMM slots.

    * 256 bytes of non-volatile parameter memory (PRAM)
    * 2 MB ROM (Two 512k by 16 chips)

    * One Built-in Apple SuperDrive 1.4 MB floppy disk drive that uses high-density
    floppy disks and reads, writes, and formats Macintosh, MS-DOS, OS/2, and
    ProDOS disks.
    * Support for two internal SCSI devices, one of which may be used for
    removable media, such as an internal CD-ROM drive.
    * One internal hard disk (80 MB, 230 MB, 500 MB options available)
    * Optional internal Apple CD-ROM drive (see above)
