What are the sound sample rates on the Macintosh Centris 660AV
    and Quadra 840AV??

DISCUSSION

The preset sound sample rate for your computer is 24 kilohertz (kHz).
This sample rate is required for speech recognition and for
    telecommunications.

If you are not using either speech or telecommunications, you can change the
sound sample rate (in the Sound Out section of the Sound control panel) to
    22.05 kHz, 44.1 kHz, or 48 kHz.

These three sample rates generally offer better sound quality if the sound
source is a compact disc (CD) or digital audio tape (DAT).  (If you use speech
and telecommunications capabilities frequently, it's probably a good idea to
keep the sample rate set at 24 kHz.)
