I want to use a Macintosh LC 520 as an AppleShare 3.0 server. Will there
be any adverse effect on server performance as a result of the power
conservation feature? Is screen dimming the only energy-saving feature of
    the Macintosh LC 520?

DISCUSSION

The Macintosh LC 520's only energy-saving feature is screen dimming. There
are no performance-related issues when the computer is in this mode.

When the screen is powered down, total system energy is reduced by
    approximately 50%:
    * Regular power consumption for the Macintosh LC 520 is 60 watts (40 watts
    not including monitor)
    * Power consumption reduces to approximately 30 watts in energy-saving
    mode.

Power to the screen is restored when you either press the mouse button or a
    key on the keyboard.
