DISCUSSION

    Summary
    -------
The Macintosh LC 475 is the new fast flexible affordable computer system
    for working, learning, and productivity.

It's the first LC model that uses the Motorola 68040 processor, making it
more than twice as fast as the LC III. It has many features that are
expensive options on other computers, including stereo sound, built-in
networking, and support for all Apple and various third-party displays. It
can display up to 256 colors on all Apple displays, and with additional
video RAM, more than 32,000 colors on the 14-inch and 16-inch Macintosh
color displays. The built-in Apple SuperDrive lets you work with documents
created in different computing environments: it can read from, and write
to, Windows, MS-DOS, OS/2, and Apple II ProDOS disks. There's an expansion
slot for special options, such as video capture, Apple IIe emulation, or
Ethernet networking. Multiple ports let you easily add peripherals such as
a high-capacity CD-ROM drive, scanner, and modem. The LC 475 is fully
compliant with the EPA's Energy Star program.
