    This article describes display options for the Macintosh LC 475 computer
    system.


DISCUSSION


    512K VRAM in SIMMs (for 256 colors) is standard. VRAM is expandable to 1MB for
    32,000 colors.

    The Macintosh LC 475 works with all Apple and many third-party displays from
    12-inch to 21-inch, including portrait displays and VGA monitors. Some
    examples:

    * Macintosh 12" RGB Display

    with 512K of VRAM:
    512 by 384 pixels with 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bits per pixel
    (thousands of colors/256 grays)

    with 1MB of VRAM:
    512 by 384 pixels 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bits per pixel
    (thousands of colors/256 grays)

    * Macintosh 12-inch Monochrome Display, AppleColor High-Resolution Monitor
    (13-inch), and Macintosh Color Display (14-inch)

    with 512K of VRAM:
    640 by 480 pixels with 1, 2, 4, or 8 bits per pixel
    (256 colors/256 grays)

    with 1MB of VRAM:
    640 by 480 pixels 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bits per pixel

    * Macintosh 16-inch Color Display

    with 512K of VRAM:

    with 1MB of VRAM:
    832 by 624 pixels 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bits per pixel
    (thousands of colors/grays)

    * Macintosh 21-inch Color Display

    with 512K of VRAM:
    1152 by 870 pixels with 1, 2, or 4 bits per pixel
    (16 colors/grays)

    with 1MB of VRAM:
    1152 by 870 pixels 1, 2, 4, or 8 bits per pixel
    (256 colors/grays)

    * VGA Monitors (with a special adapter cable)

    with 512K of VRAM:
    640 by 480 pixels with 1, 2, 4, or 8 bits per pixel
    (256 colors/256 grays)

    with 1MB of VRAM:
    640 by 480 pixels 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 bits per pixel
    (thousands of colors/256 grays)
