I connected the S-video output of a Macintosh 840AV to a Sharp projector
unit. The menu bar was cut off at the top. I tried every adjustment on the
Sharp, and could not get the menu bar back. I switched over to Composite
out, and to the Sharp's composite in, and everything worked fine.

The Sharp unit checked out just fine with S-video coming from an S-video
tape deck and nothing was missing at the top.

DISCUSSION

When the S-Video output is selected from the 840AV computer, the screen
default setting is 640 x 480. This causes the display to overscan and that
is why the menu bar is off the screen.

To remedy this situation, go into the control panel and double click on the
monitor icon. Select the "option" button and a new window will appear.
Select the 512 x 380 resolution and reboot the computer. The computer will
now drive the display in the underscan mode and the entire screen will be
    visible.
