    Shopping around for monitors today, I looked at 14, 16 and 20-in monitors. The spreadsheet file we had been using as a sample was not much wider on the 20-in monitor. In fact, the type was about 25% larger on the Apple Multiple Scan 20 Display than on a 14-in or 16-in display. Why?

DISCUSSION


    Depending on the resolution of the monitor, the text can appear to be 25% larger. This monitor can display information in one of four selectable resolutions. The resolution changes are implemented through the Monitors control panel. All changes take place immediately, so you do not have to reboot to see the resolution change.

    The four resolutions are:

    *╩640x480 --Presentation view (this is the one that you probably saw)

    *╩832x624 --Publishing view

    * 1024x768 --Two-page layout view

    * 1152x1024 --Enlarged layout view
