DISCUSSION The statement in the "Getting Started" Manual of the Macintosh LC 520 and LC 550 computers can be confusing. It is meant to imply that at high speed transmissions (baud rates of over 9600), there are many factors to consider, and you may or may not be aware of these. The "Getting Started" manual discusses these factors. Although the LC 520 was not officially tested at 14.4 K baud when it was introduced, it does function properly with a 14.4 K baud modem. There are some performance problems with all Macintosh computers using high speed modems and LocalTalk concurrently. This is covered in the Tech Info Library article titled "Macintosh Serial Port: Maximum Speed" Support Information Services |
