Is MacsBug 6.5.3 supported with Mac OS 8?

Note: MacsBug is a developer tool, and is not required to use Mac OS.

If you are developing software using Mac OS 8, MacsBug version 6.5.4a3 or later is required. Previous versions will crash the computer at startup.

Certain PCI-based Mac OS computers using Mac OS 7.6 or 7.6.1 are not compatible with MacsBug 6.5.3 or earlier. On these computers the display turns a solid shade of gray, or the text is yellow when you enter MacsBug.

If you are experiencing the behavior described above with MacsBug, or are using Mac OS 8, you can install a newer version of MacsBug. MacsBug is posted to Apple's Developer Connection ftp site in the following location:
