TOPIC
I just installed Newton Internet Enabler 2.0 on my MessagePad 2000. Whenever I try to send/receive mail or open a web page, I get a system error -16022 ("operation failed because resource was not available").
DISCUSSION
(In this article, the MessagePad 2000 and MessagePad 2100 are referred to jointly as the MessagePad 2x00.) The default setting for the modem location on a MessagePad 2x00 with Newton Internet Enabler (NIE) 2.0 installed is "Any PC Card". If the NIE software is unable to locate the modem, an error of -16022 may occur. To resolve this issue, change the modem location from "Any PC Card" to the specific slot (location) of your modem. To change your MessagePad modem preferences:
2. Tap the folder tab, tap Untitled, then tap Prefs. 3. In the slip that appears, tap "Modem." 4. Tap "Connect using", then tap the specific slot of your modem from the list that appears. For example, by choosing "Top PC Card" or "Bottom PC Card." To change your Internet Setup modem preferences:
2. Tap the folder tab, tap Setup, then tap Internet Setup. 3. Tap on the name of the setup you want to edit. 4. In the slip that appears, tap "Modem Settings" 5. Tap "Connect using", then tap the specific slot of your modem from the list that appears. For example, by choosing "Top PC Card" or "Bottom PC Card." If you continue to encounter a -16022 error when trying to dial your Internet Service Provider (or are encountering this error on an eMate or other MessagePad), you may need to verify NIE is installed correctly. The following packages should be removed prior to reinstalling NIE 2.0: Extensions Storage |
