Tips and Troubleshooting
Using a 12x CD-ROM drive in a PowerBook 1400
If you are using CD in a PowerBook 1400 with a 12x CD-ROM drive and are unable to see it, you may have an incompatible version of the CD-ROM driver. Earlier versions of the CD-ROM driver did not work with the 12x CD-ROM drive in the PowerBook 1400. To find out if you have one of these versions of the CD-ROM driver, open the Extensions folder in the System Folder. Select the Apple CD-ROM extension and choose Get Info from the File menu. If the version is not 5.3.3 or newer, you will need to upgrade this file. Follow the steps listed above to install the new driver.
Saving a copy of PhotoCD Slide Shows
If you experience issues while saving a PhotoCD Slide Show to a hard drive, copy the Slide Show Viewer application to the hard drive, increase the memory in the Get Info box, and open the Slide Show with that copy of the application.
Using QuickTime AutoPlay
The Audio CD AutoPlay option can cause issues with the track lists in the AppleCD Audio Player and CDStrip Control Strip module. If this happens, open the Audio Player and click on the Normal mode button to correct it.
Playing Enhanced CDs
Audio tracks on Enhanced Compact Discs may stop playing if you open a program, access a file, or use the Finder. Enhanced CDs contain both audio and data information, such as text, movies, or multimedia software. On occassion, the Finder needs to access information about the data portion of the CD, which causes the audio to stop playing. This situation does not occur with standard audio CDs.
