TOPIC

Are there any Universal Serial Bus (USB) video solutions for the iMac?

DISCUSSION

Yes. On August 20 1998, Connectix posted a USB driver on its web site for iMac customers to download.

A Windows version of the camera has been in stores for awhile. But the camera will work on an iMac, too--with the proper device driver.

At stores, the package you see on the shelf may state that the Connectix USB Video Camera is for Windows-based computers. Nonetheless, you'll be able to display video images on iMac using the Connectix USB Video Camera just fine. Just remember to download the drivers from the Connectix web site (they're free) and install them before you connect the USB Camera to iMac.

Connectix is modifying their packaging to include the fact that these USB cameras are MacOS-compatible.
