This article explains how to verify that the video output is working when using TV Mirroring.
DISCUSSION Note: Information on how to enable TV Mirroring can be found in the following Tech Info Library article: Article 30349: " G3 Minitower: How To Use Video Mirroring " Since configuring a television, VCR, or other video device to accept video input can be complex there is a test to first determine if the computer is correctly sending a good video signal from the video output RCA jack on the back of the Audio/Video card. By connecting the video cable from the output video jack directly to the input video jack you can use Apple Video Player to verify that there is proper video output. To connect the video cable and use Apple Video Player, do the following: Step 1 Connect one end of a standard video cable to the yellow video output port on the back of your computer. Connect the other end to the yellow video input port. (see Figure 1) Figure 1: AV Ports. Step 2 From the Control Strip turn on the TV Mirroring option from the TV Control Strip module. (see Figure 2) Figure 2: TV Mirroring icon in the Control Strip. Step 3 Open Apple Video Player from Apple Menu. Step 4 The output from TV mirroring will be displayed in the Player window. (see Figure 3) Figure 3: Apple Video Player windows. Step 5 If you do not see a mirror image of your entire monitor within the Player video window, make sure the current input to the player is set to "Video". Do this by opening the player Controls window and first clicking the Monitor icon along the left. Under Video Options you should now see a "TV", "Video" and "S-Video" button. Choose "Video". You should now see a complete image of the monitor including the mouse arrow within the Video window. This test indicates that the video cable is good and that video output from the Mac is working properly. |
