TOPIC

I have configured my Mac OS X server to run Apache in inetd mode, and the performance is not very good. Why does it fail with little or no stress to the server?

DISCUSSION

Starting Apache using inetd is not recommended because of performance degradation. The Apache web server starts automatically when the system starts up and runs continuously (standalone mode) unless you shut it down. This is the recommended mode of operation for optimum performance.
