    The Apple CPU Plugin will not install if a disk other than the startup disk has Mac OS X installed on it.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    When you open the Apple CPU Plugin installer, an alert box appears with this message:

      "Apple CPU Plugin requires Mac OS 9.0.4 or later."

    Products affected
    • Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) Dual Processor

    Solution
      1. On the desktop, select the disk (or disks) containing Mac OS X.
      2. Choose Put Away from the File Menu; you are presented with an alert box asking if you want to remove the disk from the desktop.
      3. Click OK.
      4. Open the Apple CPU Plugin Installer application.
      5. Proceed with the installation.
      6. Restart the computer.
