DISCUSSION

This application is for users of the LC 630/Performa 640 DOS Compatible systems that wish to use Pro_Org. There is a problem when trying to run Pro_Org with the write-back cache enabled on the Cyrix 486 processor. This is displayed as a hardware error 005.

WBOFF.EXE will turn the cache off so that Pro_Org will run. Just place the file in the DOS directory and type WBOFF at the command prompt and then press enter. The cache will be disabled until the PC is restarted. When the cache is off, there will be a slight impact on the performance of the system.

Originally, the cache was disabled by default and there was a line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file (WB.EXE) that enabled them. With PC Setup 1.5, the BIOS was changed to enable the cache by default. Therefore, this application is needed to disable the cache.

    Important Note:
This software is provided on an as-is basis. It is not warranted to be complete or free from errors. This software may cause problems with your Mac OS computer and with other software you have installed. These problems may require you to reinstall the Mac OS System Software from your original floppy disks or CD-ROM disc.
