TOPIC

Although clearly marked on the I/O board as ROM, some users are mistaking the socketed ROM simms in the LaserWriter 8500 for RAM and are subsequently removing them when attempting a RAM upgrade.

DISCUSSION

In replacing the simm, users need to take note of the sticker on the ROM simm that says "even" or "odd". The two sockets on the board are also marked and distinguished as "even" or "odd". ROMs should be inserted accordingly.

The LaserWriter 8500 has only one socket for a 72 pin simm. For more information on installation of RAM, consult the user guide or see an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
