I have been unsuccessful in installing Network Assistant 3.0.1 on my client computers.
DISCUSSION
The Network Assistant 3.0.1 Updater's installer attempts to disable File Sharing and look for the File Sharing extension before proceeding with the updating of files.
You do not need to have File Sharing turned on via the File Sharing or Sharing Setup control panel. However, the File Sharing extension does need to be installed in the System folder and loaded. The Installer requires that these extensions be present in the System folder's Extensions folder.
Do not disable extensions either by holding the Shift key at startup or by deselecting it in Extensions Manager control panel.
With Extensions on, you will be successful installing on System 7.6.1 and up on PPC and 68k machines.
If you have removed File Sharing completely from your machine, you will need to reinstall your System Software. In the future, if there are components that you wish to have removed from the System Folder, use the Extensions Manager Control Panel to disable those extensions. However, you would still need to re-enable the extension prior to using a Network Assistant Installer.
