TOPIC

Some Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh users have reported a buzzing or static sound coming from one or both of the speakers. The noise appears to increase in frequency (that is, it gets higher in pitch) when they move the cursor into the menu bar and choose an item.

DISCUSSION

Although any Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh could have this issue, only a small percent actually do. Any computer that has not experienced these symptoms yet will probably not develop them in the future.

For Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh customers in the United States and Canada who have already informed Apple Technical Support of the buzzing or static sound on their computers, Apple will contact you to arrange for service. It is recommended that if your Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh exhibits the buzzing or static sound in either one, or both speakers and you have not contacted Apple Technical Support about this, please contact them at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) for service.

If you are outside the United States and Canada, use the geographic specific phone number as outlined in your Service and Support Guide to have your service related questions and options addressed. You also have the option of contacting your local Service Provider directly for service. This repair is covered by the original warranty on the product.
