TOPIC

Listed below are some basic steps for troubleshooting difficulties in connecting to an AppleShare IP SMB server.

DISCUSSION

If you are having any difficulties establishing, maintaining, or using an SMB connection to an AppleShare IP server, but there are no problems when using other protocols, try the following troubleshooting steps.

    1) Update to the latest version of ASIP.

    2) Map the server volume as a Network Drive on the Windows clients. To do this, follow these steps:
    - Open Network Neighborhood
    - Double-click the server
    - Right-click on the server volume you wish to map to a drive letter
    - Select "Map Network Drive"
    - Select a drive letter or use the default
    - Check "Reconnect at logon" if you wish to make this setting persistent across restarts - Click OK
