TOPIC

I have an LCD projector which I am trying to connect to a PowerMac G3 and an Apple Studio display 17 so that I can use it as a presentation system. Whenever I connect the Apple Studio Display 17 to the video out port on the LCD projector I lose video on both the LCD projector and the Apple Studio Display 17.

The LCD projector is plugged directly into the VGA video connector on my PowerMac G3. The Apple Studio Display 17 is directly plugged into the video out connector on the LCD projector.

Do you have any suggestions for connecting the Apple Studio Display 17 to an LCD projector?

DISCUSSION

The Apple Studio Display 17 was tested for use with PowerMac G3 systems running Mac OS 8.0 or later. It was not tested for use with other configurations such as LCD projectors. Some customers have reported that the following configuration works with some LCD projectors:
      1. Connect the LCD projector directly into the PowerMac G3 video out connector.
      2. Connect the VGA to Macintosh display adapter that shipped with the Apple Studio Display 17 (922-3769) to the Macintosh to VGA adapter (922-3764) supplied with the PowerMac G3.
      3. Connect the display adapter to the VGA video out port on the LCD projector and connect the Apple Studio Display 17 cable to the paired video adapters.

Once the setup is confirmed, power on the G3, LCD projector, and the Apple Studio Display 17. Consult the LCD projector's users manual or manufacturer for determining the projection unit's supported resolutions.
