This article discusses the number of filters you can create with TCP Filter Admin, available with AppleShare IP 6.1 and later.
DISCUSSION TCP Filter Admin is limited to creating 250 filters. If 250 filters do not provide sufficient flexibility for your situation, be sure to use wildcards. Using wildcards allows a whole range of IP addresses to be addressed with a singe filter, and should considerably reduce the necessary filters. If you are approaching the 250 filter limit even with the use of wildcards, consider purchasing a hardware router for the task. From an administrative standpoint, the list of filters can become hard to manage and design before you reach the technical maximum of 250 filters. You may want to consider a hardware router if your filter list is growing unmanageably long and complex. |
