    Setup Assistants: Which Assistant Do I Need to Register With Apple?

    This article describes which Setup Assistant application program is needed to register with Apple.


DISCUSSION

    The Setup Assistant for registering with Apple is located in the Apple Extras folder inside the Setup Assistant folder. See Figure 1.

    This Setup Assistant is designed to get you connected to the Internet quickly and to register your new computer with Apple. If you quit the application early during this registration process, an alias will be left on the desktop titled "Register with Apple" as shown in Figure 2. You can always click on this icon to get back into the Setup Assistant.

    There are two other Setup Assistants (three if you have the AirPort software installed). See Figure 3 below.

    Note: The new Setup Assistant takes the place of both the Mac OS Setup Assistant and the Internet Setup Assistant. In most instances, you will not need to use these if you have already setup your computer with the new Setup Assistant.
